Specials

Music

In our music program, students will learn about composers and how to read music. They will learn about rhythm and beat. They will also gain confidence and presentation skills by performing two music programs throughout the year – one program for Christmas, and one for spring. Older students have the opportunity to audition for solos.

Art

Innovate Elementary art programs are used in conjunction with our pillars. Depending on the time of year, students utilize their art class to support their project based learning. During their finance quarter, students utilize their art class to create business prototypes and marketing materials. For service and community, students will utilize art class to create cards for the community.

Art is offered to our middle school students as an opportunity to dive deeper into artistic skills. Students are exposed to different media inspired by influential artists and techniques.

Finance

Finance classes begin at PreK. In the early educational years, we focus on exposing young students to counting money. By the end of the year, they will have a clear idea of wants vs needs. They will also understand the concept of how to save, spend and give.

Our elementary students solidify the foundation and building blocks of financial literacy throughout their time at Innovate. Curriculum is created to be age appropriate and international. Students will have strong concepts of varying business and financial concepts that will build year after year. We are focused on a deep understanding of these ideas, and layering them so that, by the time students are in 5th grade, they are confident in delivering a full business plan. In some cases, students are inspired to have their own real-life business before entering middle school!

By middle school, our students are ready to take their entrepreneurial education to the next level. Students will dive into bigger financial concepts such as taxes, credit, p&l statements, and how to acquire business permits. In their final business project, they will have the opportunity to pitch their idea to a board of advisors where they will discuss budgets, operations, marketing, and scaling their business idea.

Typing

While Innovate’s philosophy does not support exposing students to unnecessary screen time, we do feel it is important for students to learn the skill of typing. The muscle memory that typing classes provide will benefit our older elementary students as the move towards middle school.

Languages

Spanish will be a new special offered in the year of 2024-2025 to elementary students. Other languages may be added depending on demand and instructional opportunity.

Spanish is currently offered as an elective for our middle school students.
